Beer isn't free...

This can’t be said enough

Alan writing at IdaBlue:

[...] Make a case for what is the best idea, and voters will just naturally move toward the party with that idea, or with the most good ideas.

Idahoans aren’t all that deeply informed about politics, but they have an almost reflexive affinity for Republicans. So, if the battleground is Republican vs Democrat, the Democrats are going to lose. If the battleground is what plan will prevent the curtailment order, for example, people affected by the curtailment will support the party with the best idea.

97% of the time Democrats will win the war of ideas — history has proven that time and time again. I don’t say this because I’m a Democrat, hell, I could careless about being a member of a party. I happen to be a Democrat because it happens to be the party that represents my values and ideals — and it is the party that I believe will hopefully lead this country forward.

I’m a hack, and for the most part a Democratic one, so I’m not going to tell anyone how to run the Democratic Party in Idaho but I do think that the politics should be reserved for election time — for the politicians. In the down time party officials should be focusing on ideas, it’s not the most expedient method of political conversion, but it’s the most time tested.

Perhaps officials shouldn’t always spar with the Republicans in the public arena, I’m all for them looking like drunken, blindfolded fools swinging away at imaginary piñatas.

And I’ll say that I do agree with Jim Hanson’s op-ed in the Idaho Statesman (what prompted Alan’s post), but moreover I agree with what Alan is saying.

Make sure you read Alan’s post in full.

Conflicted messages from the pulpit

Hate the sin but love the sinner.

Uh-huh.

Remember kids, it is not what you say, it is what you do.

There’s a difference?

I guess "vintage" is the new "old as shit".

Thoughts

Democrat is spelled with a capital "D" and "leftist" is a stupid term.

In case you didn’t know…

The Idaho Better Business Bureau  would like to inform you that the 24-year-old blond with double-D’s you met on the ‘tubes last night was probably lying.

*mental note*

Satire isn’t satire if you have to point it out.

Wanna be taken seriously?

Don’t wear clown suits to protests and don’t legally change your name to "Pro-Life".

Idaho Press-Tribune:

Abortion protesters gather in Caldwell

CALDWELL — Police responded as a group of anti-abortion protesters gathered outside a
dinner held by affiliates of Planned Parenthood at a Caldwell restaurant Thursday night.

The former Idaho gubernatorial candidate formerly known as Marvin Richardson, who has legally changed his name to “Pro-Life,” headed up the protest. Pro-Life, of Emmett,  said he and other protesters found out about the dinner through the media and decided to picket at the event.

[...]

The group of protesters, which included Pro-Life’s wife, Kirsten Richardson, and several children, held many signs with captions like “Every life is precious, Born and Pre-Born.”

The dinner was held at Orphan Annie’s Bar & Grill, a Caldwell restaurant located near the golf course, but protester Ray Horrell said the group was not targeting the restaurant.

“We have nothing against this restaurant, and we’re not protesting this restaurant,” Horrell said.

I’m no stylist, but wearing Isotoner gloves, a Rainbow Brite jacket and rubber boots?

Parental thought

The impending breakdown of civilization isn’t due the lack of two-parent heterosexual households as the political right would have you believe.

No, it is a direct correlation between stupid people raising stupid kids — two stupid parents are not necessarily better than one.
