Today’s must read:
- Matt Taibbi: The Class Clowns — Once the masters of evil politics, Republicans have been reduced to half-assed buffoonery, providing comic relief for desperate times. Choice cut:
Following the Republican Party of late has been a movingly depressing experience, sort of like watching Old Yeller die - if Old Yeller were a worm-infested feral bitch who spent the past eight years biting children at bus stops and shitting in neighborhood swimming pools. As a useful force in American politics, the Republicans have been dead for a while now. But in the seven months since Sarah Palin’s nomination, they have taken on an intriguing new role: providing much-needed comic relief during dark times, serving as the unofficial rodeo clowns of the Financial Crisis Era.
The Treasure Valley:
- NewWest.Net/Boise and Editor Jill Kuraitis Win Top Honors at Idaho Press Club Awards.

- Idaho Vandals beat Boise Broncos in something.
- A new farmers market co-op to open up in Meridian. We missed opening day at Nampa’s farmer’s market this past weekend due to going to Boise to taste some homebrew (plus the rain would have made it suck anyway). I’m looking forward to checking it out this weekend, word on the street is that there are some changes coming.
- Speaking of farmer’s markets, and last week’s discussion. We watched To Market to Market to Buy a Fat Pig yesterday, it was a cool little documentary on American farmer’s markets. If use use Netflix, you can watch it via Watch Instantly here.
- Boise council weighs going local. An ordinance would give preference to Valley bidders on projects.
- New local flower biz where you get flowers sent to your office so you can take them home.
- Treasure Valley anti-gang school looks to add housing.
- Some homebrewers this past weekend at the Treasure Valley’s Big Brew:
