The Treasure Valley:
- Boise mayor to roll out new trash and recycling program Thursday. Awesome to have a city take such a proactive position on recycling. Here in Nampa we just barely got bins, and we still can’t recycle glass — something I’m assuming there is a lot of.
- In Meridian you can pick up a 80 gallon composter for 40 bucks.
- Nyssa School District plans to layoff 20 employees.
- Nampa schools take pro-active approach to stop flu spread.
- Two Canyon County DMV employees are suspected of embezzling more than $300,000. Ouch, that’s gonna hurt. This was a story that was brought to light by the a Caldwell blogger, Paul Alldredge of The Caldwell Guardian. It provoked an interesting exchange about bloggers and newspapers between Boise Guardian’s Dave Frazier and Idaho Press-Tribune’s Vickie Holbrook.
- Idaho Statesman: Racists don’t speak for Idaho - they must go. Hmm, it’s not about shutting them down, it’s about educating the, I’m guessing here, thousands upon thousands of Idahoans who agree with them under their breath. If you listen to Treasure Valley AM radio you know that the racists aren’t just located in Northern Idaho, they are all over this state.
- A job fair in Boise, yes, but nonsales jobs are few.
- Word on the street is that The Idaho Business Review (another one of the outstanding local media outlets) will be placing credit card capable newspaper boxes around the area.
Idaho Politics:
- Day 108: Do or Sine Die.
- Ready to adjourn, ID House wants meeting with gov. Needless to say, today should be an interesting day in the House of Representatives.
- North Idaho Legislator calls $18,000 $17,000 early retirement payouts to teachers “golden parachutes”. I’ll be amazed and somehow not surprised when Nonini wins his reelection bid next time around.
- Otter, on road trip to conservative Midvale, pitches higher fuel taxes.
- Midvale residents say Gov. Otter has abandoned rural Idaho. It’s got to be a frustrating part of the job to try and explain government to some people who apparently have no understanding of how government works.
- Brian Murphy: ‘A paralysis of Idaho government’.
- Idaho lawmakers continue session of disconnect.
- Randy Stapilus: Sounds of silence. Also check out Randy’s take on The Great Otter and Local Coffee Debacle of 2009 — something you can tell your grandkids you were alive for.
- Idaho Values Coalition: Fischer ‘Fesses Up!
- Judge blocks Idaho Medicaid cuts for disabled.
- Byron Yankey: 12 Reasons.
Politics:
- Another case of tea party numbers being exaggerated: The myth of the 15,000.
- Fort Boise: One more Democratic Senator.
- lol.
Booze:
- Bitner Vineyards: 2009 Idaho Winery of the Year.
- Polish beer commercials.
- Guinness 250: Can you taste the difference? Looked for this at the Co-op on Saturday but I didn’t see it, I thought they had some of it. Guess I should have asked, I’d like to check it out.
- Craft Beer Converts See (Beyond Bud) Light.

Admin:
Thanks for all the people who took the survey yesterday, if you still haven’t taken it you can here. I really appreciate all the feedback, the good and the bad. I’ll try to address a few of the concerns:
- Mobile compatible: The new site will have a mobile version.
- Double Spaced links: We’re trying that today, I just didn’t want the post to get too large. Yay, nay? Shouldn’t be an issue with the new design, at least I’m trying to make it not be.
- Standards validation: The new site will be.
- More music: I can handle that. You want nightly or bi-weekly?
- MeetUp: We might try to do that towards the end of the summer. Not a bad idea.
I’ll try to get to more of them later. Thanks again for taking the survey.
I’ll also take this chance to remind you that you can submit links that you think should be posted via the suggest a link page — I’m probably getting about two links a day, I’d love to see that number boosted quite a bit.

Nonini is a financial planer and owns an insurance and investment business according to his bio. I wouldn't want him working for me if he considers 17K a golden parachute. After buying private health insurance for a year there's only 5K left.
I wouldn't want Nonini to work for me period, but I bet Duane Hagadone enjoys having him in his employ.
I bet Hagadone had his golden parachute packed up and the the local pole cats like Nonini trained to his lap a long time ago, unlike those amateurs at Tamarack.
