I'd actually go a bit farther than Vickie Holbrook when she says “I'm all for charter schools, but the per-pupil funding should be the same, dollar for dollar” and argue that charter schools should get less.
Charter schools siphon of the best and brightest that are motivated and easy to teach leaving behind the special needs kids, the bilingual education, and the rest of the unmotivated morons that the charters won't take.
The same goes for the voucher system and privatization of schools. A voucher system will never totally replace public education and in the end just drive up the per pupil costs at the public schools.
