Beer isn't free...

Eli’s Italian Deli

I’ve been meaning to check this place out for some time — today seemed like the perfect day to do so.

Sitting right on the corner of 2nd and 12th Ave in the heart of Downtown Nampa, I think I’ve found a new place that will require repeated visits

I gotta say that the staff was all pretty jovial, talkative and engaging, which is a plus. They have a pretty standard menu of both cold and hot subs, salads and various sides. I settled on the “Torpedo”, a cold sub with some freshly sliced meats and salamis with Gouda cheese and house dressing.

It’s also has to be noted that they use freshly baked breads that are baked in house which, for me is almost a prerequisite for any self-respecting sandwich shop.

They also have pizza by the slice, which I’ll have to check out next time I visit.

I’ll say that the slices are kind  of meager for the $2.50 price tag, but I won’t judge until I get a chance to try it out. Value-wise it’s going to be hard to beat the monster slices of pizza you can get from Guido’s for a buck-eighty.

Here is the Torpedo:

Really good value for 6 bucks and some change. I’d definitly eat it again — after I try out the rest of their sandwiches.

That deli has been there for years. An older Italian couple, immigrants from the old county, owned and ran it back in '95 or so. They were the coolest folks. I used to work downtown at the time and would grab a soup and sandwich a couple times a week.

It's been years since I've ate there - Looks like I'm going to have to stop by.

    • I wonder if it has been around in different incarnations? There was a BW article talking about this past Sept. being their one year anniversary. Might have to check on that.

I dig their pizza by the slice. A good weekend treat once in a while.

  • No, they're relatively new. I went there a couple of times on Thursdays in the summer during Downtown Nampa Nights, when they had any sandwich for something like $5. It was good.
