Beer isn't free...

3 lanes will not solve this

I84 at Garrity 8:30 this morning.

Granted, there was a wreck this morning, but it looks similar to this on non-wreck days. Also, it looked a lot worse at 7:45 or so, I had some running around to do before I got a chance to snap this photo — the radio was saying it was an hour drive from Garrity to the WYE.

Idaho should have bit the bullet and put in 4 lanes from Nampa to Meridian and 3 lanes to Caldwell. It’s going to cost a hell of a lot more when we have to do it in 10 years anyway.

We need to get into the habit of planning for the future, not just trying to make up for past planning mistakes.

3 comments to 3 lanes will not solve this

  • Remember when they killed the expansion of the Boise segment cause it was the portion that went through District 16 controlled by Democrats?

Denney isn't taking any local option bills that don't come with a constitutional amendment. If someone is looking for the antonym for progressive can we just show a picture of House leadership? They're not really conservative cause they're not maintaining the status quo. They're marching backwards.

You know what someone ought to do? Get a videocamera and park somewhere along Garrity. Interview people who are fed up with their hourlong commutes. Stick a series of one-minute videos on YouTube with taglines like, "Gee thanks, Mike Moyle" and "If you love your commute, thank Lawerence Denney."
I also still like the idea of a billboard on I-84 with similar sentiments.

  • 1. There are four lanes. One of them is just a Really Wide Shoulder. It can't be a lane because the Meridian overpass can't be modified to support four lanes. After the 10 Mile overpass is built (starts this summer), then they can demolish and rebuild the Meridian overpass, and convert the Really Wide Shoulders into the fourth lane.

    2. Denney isn't taking straight local option authority bills without a constitutional amendment, but there's two bills on the table that at least let regions increase gas tax and registration fees. One of them is by Raul Labrador, and I don't know whether it's been printed; the other one is by Ken Roberts, and it has.

    3. Actually, at this point, Mike Moyle has said he's not wedded to a constitutional amendment. It's Denney, and Lake, who has agreed to let Denney tell him what bills to consider.
